Digital marketing salary in Nepal (2026): what the sources say and why they disagree

On this page
Search for a digital marketing salary in Nepal and you will see wildly different answers. One page says a fresher earns NPR 15,000 a month; another says a digital marketer averages more than NPR 80,000. Both cannot be right, so I compared the main public sources and looked at why they disagree.
None of these are official statistics. Nepal does not publish a salary survey for this job, so treat everything below as a range to test, not a fact.
What each source says
Recruitment blogs. Guides from job sites and training providers usually give three bands. Entry level is roughly NPR 15,000 to 50,000 a month, depending on the guide. Mid level (about two to five years) is roughly NPR 40,000 to 80,000. Senior roles are often quoted at NPR 80,000 to 150,000 or more. Neco Jobs' salary guide is one example.

Payscale. Its Nepal pages are built from self-reported data. For a marketing executive the average base is about NPR 250,000 a year, with a reported range of roughly NPR 143,000 to 441,000. For a digital marketing specialist the average is about NPR 213,000 a year, around NPR 17,700 a month.
Paylab. Its survey data gives a spread rather than one average. For a digital marketing specialist, about 10 percent earn under NPR 31,000 a month and about 10 percent earn over NPR 96,000. For a digital marketing manager, the same two cut-offs are about NPR 41,000 and NPR 133,000.
Salary aggregators. Worldsalaries lists an average near NPR 82,000 a month. That is far above everything else, so I would treat it as an outlier.
Why the numbers disagree
- Different job titles. "Digital marketer", "digital marketing executive", "SEO specialist" and "marketing manager" cover very different work.
- Small, self-reported samples. Payscale-style data may rest on a handful of entries.
- Mixed employers. An agency, a bank, a startup and a company paying in dollars all sit in the same average.
- Old data. Many blog figures are not dated, so you cannot tell which year they describe.
- Net versus gross. Some sources quote gross pay, some take-home, and some include bonuses.
What usually moves pay
Across the sources, the same factors come up:

- Experience and proof of results. A portfolio with real work counts more than a certificate.
- Skills beyond social media. SEO, analytics, paid ads and marketing automation are mentioned as higher-paid skills. Social posting alone is the crowded, lower-paid end.
- Employer type. Agencies, product companies and foreign-funded organisations pay differently.
- Location of the client. Remote work for companies abroad can be priced in dollars, which changes the picture completely.
How to find a number you can trust
- Read current job posts. Check Nepali job boards for the role you want and note any stated ranges.
- Ask people in the role. Two or three honest conversations beat any average.
- Compare three sources, not one. If Paylab, Payscale and live job posts agree on a band, use it.
- Ask the employer early. A clear range in the first conversation saves you a wasted interview.
The remote option
Some Nepali marketers now work for startups abroad. Pay there depends on the client's market and your proof, not on Kathmandu averages. I wrote about this for a newer role in GTM engineer salary and freelance rates in India, Nepal and beyond. I have not published my own pay and I do not think any one person's number is a useful benchmark.
