Almost every GTM engineer salary article quotes US numbers. If you live in India, Nepal or anywhere else in South Asia, those figures do not tell you much. Here is what I could find, where the gaps are, and how I think about pricing.

A note on method: I only used public sources, and I link to each one. Several come from vendors or community posts, so treat all of it as a rough benchmark and not a survey.

What the data says

Global freelance and full-time averages. Clay's community analysis of 2,930 GTM engineer jobs reports an average of about $106K for full-time roles and about $28 per hour for freelance work. It also shows where the jobs are: the US at 26 percent, India at 12 percent, then Germany and the UK. That is a global average across mostly US and European postings, not a local one.

India, full-time. SyncGTM's India salary guide puts the national median at roughly ₹12.5 lakh per year, based on Glassdoor India postings, with junior roles (0 to 2 years) in Bangalore listed at about ₹12 to ₹22 lakh. The same guide makes an important point: domestic B2B roles pay Indian bands, while agencies and remote roles serving US startups pay in dollars, which it says can be two to four times the local number.

Junior and trainee roles. One Clay community job post for junior GTM engineers in India offered from INR 40,000 per month for trainees. That is a single post, not a market rate, but it shows how wide the spread is between a trainee and a mid-level hire.

What US data shows, and what it misses

Two 2026 reports are the best public US benchmarks, and both are limited:

  • [Cargo](https://www.getcargo.ai/blog/gtm-engineer-salary) analysed 509 US job postings that stated a salary (April to July 2026). Median $159K, middle half $135K to $190K. It notes that only about a quarter of postings state pay, so the sample may lean toward better-paying employers.
  • [RevGuild](https://revguild.org/blog/gtm-engineer-salary-market-report-2026/) analysed 71 US postings with pay: median $150K base, with entry around $113K and senior around $188K.

Neither covers India, Nepal, other regions, remote-from-abroad pay or freelance rates. That gap is why this article exists, and why I would not apply a US number to a Kathmandu or Bangalore profile without checking local and client-market data first.

What I could not find: Nepal

I searched for Nepal-specific GTM engineer pay and found nothing published. No salary survey, no job-board average, no community thread with real numbers. I am not going to invent one.

What you can say honestly:

  • The role is new, and almost no Nepali employers hire for the title.
  • Most GTM engineering work available to someone in Nepal is remote work for foreign companies, so the useful comparison is the global freelance and remote band, not a local salary.
  • Local salaries for related roles, like digital marketing or marketing automation, are a floor to compare against, not a ceiling.

If you have real numbers from your own experience or hiring, publish them. This is a gap, and a small amount of honest data would help a lot of people.

How I would think about pricing

I have not found a clean formula, but these principles hold up.

Simple line sketch of a balance scale with value on one side and price on the other
  1. Price against the client's market, not yours. A US startup comparing you with a $28-per-hour freelancer or a six-figure hire is not comparing you with Kathmandu rent.
  2. Charge for the system, not the hours, once you can. A fixed-scope build, such as "a scored lead list and outreach draft workflow in two weeks", is easier to defend than an hourly rate and rewards you for getting faster.
  3. Start lower only for proof, and say so. A discounted first project in exchange for a testimonial and a case study is a trade. A low rate with no trade is a habit that is hard to break.
  4. Separate trainee from independent pricing. What you charge while learning should not become your standing rate.
  5. Keep records. Track what you shipped and how long it took. That is the only real data you will ever have about your own price.

A caution on salary articles

Most salary pages on this topic are written by vendors who sell GTM tools or hiring services. The numbers are useful as a range, but they are often built from a small number of postings. Check the date, check the sample size, and prefer sources that show their data.
